Generalnie ćwiczenie opiera się na nauce używania czasów Past Simple i Past Continues. Past Simple używamy przy czynności zakończonej w przeszłości i niemającej wpływu na teraźniejszość. Używamy go też jeśli mamy podaną konkretną datę kiedy coś się działo. Past Continues używamy do czynności długich trwających w przeszłości. Mamy wtedy końcówkę -ing oraz formę was/were. Jeśli opowiadamy o czymś co się działo jedno po drugim np. zjadłem, później umyłem, później uczyłem, używamy Past Simple.
