At some parties people dress up in traditional clothes and dance traditional dances.

Everyone forgot about it.

They were very colourful.

It has a special name-Hogmanay.

New Year’s Eve is a big celebration in Scotland. (1)…………People have celebrated it for hundred years. Years ago it was more popular than Christmas! At Hogmanay many people organise parties and invite their friends. (2)………. . At midnight (twelve o’clock) everyone stands in a circle and hold hands. Then they sing a song called Auld Lang Syne. In Edinburgh , the capital city, there is a big party in the streets. (3)……………….. . Last year 80,000 people went to the party! Bands played and at midnight everyone watched the fireworks. (4)……… . There is also a big parade. It doesn’t have floats, but people carry fire torches!
