Krakow is the second capital of Poland, as well as a provincial city located in the Vistula valley on the border of three regions: the Kraków Gate, the Sandomierz Basin and the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The Vistula, the largest river in Poland, flows through Krakow. Within this city, there are several underground water reservoirs from which we have mineral water.
Krakow is characterized by an unfavorable local climate, which causes: frequent occurrence of fogs, on average 61 days a year, poor ventilation of the city due to its location in a valley surrounded on three sides by hills, high air pollution with industrial and communication gases and dust, both local and transferred from the Upper Silesian Industrial District through the most frequently blowing westerly winds in Krakow.
Krakow is famous for the oldest Polish high school, the Jagiellonian University, formerly known as the Krakow Academy.
Krakow has rich museum and church collections, including outstanding works of art of great importance for European culture (the altar of Wit Stwosz, a collection of Wawel tapestries, paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt). Many museums take care of storing and presenting works of art, the most important of which are: the National Museum, the Wawel Royal Castle, the Historical Museum, the Archaeological Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, the Pharmacy Museum, and the Jagiellonian University Museum.
