The future is coming fast. We can now see a glimpse of what it would look like in 50 years. Technology is advancing surprisingly fast. Today we have more powerful computers in our pocket than they have at Apollo missions.
The first thing that will for sure change is the form of education. I cannot believe that kids will be steal going to one building only for lessons. With the constantly connecting world, classes online will be more "alive" than traditional. Quality of audio and video could be greater than sitting in the third or even second row in class. And what more critical people with disabilities would be no longer condemned to worse education than their colleagues.
Another big change that would probably happen is personalizing education. Artificial Intelligence is able to beat the best players of "go," with every generation of computer processor, microchips, and TPU processing power increases. In 50 years, that small steps could add up to machines teaching students, but no in a way, we can think. Why would we build a special device to teach students when we can just use devices they already have, like computers. Every kid would get their personalized teacher based on their personalities.
The more futuristic option could be a direct brain-machine interface. We can read electrical impulses from the brain right now. It's possible to communicate with the machine only by minds, writing moving cursor, but computers still lack the possibility to talk back. Of course, we can use visual spectrum and devices such as monitors, displays, smart glasses. The true revolution would be directly inputting information into our brains. And then schools would become unnecessary.
In short, schools nowadays are really important, but they will lose importance more and more as we go into the future. We could be happy that we live in such times when we can still learn in schools.
