I enjoy the whole process of cooking a delicious meal.
Planning - maybe that’s my favourite part. Figuring out what textures, flavors, and contrasts will be pleasing to the tongues of my audience is always thrilling to me.
Beginning to cook the meal - pulling all my carefully-chosen ingredients out of the refrigerator and pantry, lining them up in neat rows on the counter, assigning them to the correct mise en place vessels where they will rest until it’s time for them to enter the stage…maybe that’s my favourite part.
Adding ingredients to the pans - enjoying the aromas and sizzles as they start to release their oils and essences…maybe that’s my favourite part.
Removing a perfectly-seared piece of meat from the heat - seeing the lightly-charred outside and imagining the juicy, succulent interior of the flesh - is rewarding in a special way…maybe that’s my favourite part.
