Thanksgiving Day
Although Thanksgiving Day is a holiday that not many Europeans know, for man reasons it is much better than Christmas. Americans celebrate Thanksgiving on the four Thursday of November- they want to thank the native North Americans for their help showing them how to grow plants and how to live in a new land. This holiday doesm involve lots of preparation like sending cards, decorating trees or giving presents. That why most people are relaxed and cheerful on this day. For most students it's a three four-day weekend - they don't usually have to wake up the next moming and pack the backpack. You may also forget about formal clothes - wearing jeans and your favouri blouse is absolutely fine. In fact, all you have to do on this day is sit at the table with you friends and family trying to fill your stomach with turkey, potatoes, com and pumpic pie. After dinner, most people watch a game of American football on TV. This something you mustn't miss, even if you're not a great fan of soccer.
