Saint Valentine was a 3rd - century Roman Saint. During the attacks on the country, the emperor decided that marriage weakend soldiers. So he banned his soldiers from getting married. Saint Valentine however, believed that love is improtant and doesn't have a negative change on the soldiers. It didn't take long for the emperor to hear about this and Saint Valentine go arrested. While being locked away, his keeper of prison came up to him with his blind daughter and asked Saint Valentine heal her eyes. Saint Valentine agreed. Not long after, they became close and fell in love. One day the empror told Saint Valentine to not only agree with his ban about marriage but also give up his religion. When Saint Valentine still disagreed, the empror sent him on a execution. Just before he asked for a pen and paprer and wrote a letter to his loved one signing it ,,your Valentine''. Saint Valentine got executed on the 14th of February. That is the history of Saint Valentine and how the Valentine tradition began.
