You might probably know what Ayers Rock is, but do you have a clue what Uluru is? It's the name of the famous rock in the language of the native inhabitants of Australia - the Aborigines. 8.2. It's one of the world's natural wonders. The unique thing about the rock is that it changes colour at different times of the day: it's brown at sunrise, then becomes orange and finally turns red at sunset. 8.3. - The rock can be found in the middle of Australia, in the Northern Territory. It is 348 metres high, about 3.6 kilometres long and 1.9 kilometres wide. Its top is generally flat, but the walls are pretty steep. 8.1. Yet, large numbers of tourists climb Uluru every day. However, for Aboriginal people, Uluru is not an attraction but a sacred place. According to Aboriginal mythology, it was built by two boys playing in the mud at the time of creation. 8.4. Nowadays, some Aborigines still worship the rock by dot painting or performing songs in its caves. A. Uluru is also a symbol of a great battle between Aboriginal tribes. B.
