Last week when I visited my grandfather, he looked quite annoyed, so I asked him (1) (C) what the matter was. He pointed to his computer and said he (2) (C) had tried to copy some books from his computer onto his e-book reader. However, the connection (3)  (A) failed to work properly. When I told him I (4) (B) would do that for him, he was really grateful.

W tekście użyto mowy zależnej (repoerted speech). Używa się jej do przytoczenia czyjejś wypowiedzi bez cytowania - własnymi słowami. Ważnym elementem mowy zależnej w języku angielskim jest "cofnięcie czas" np. present simple zamieniamy na past simple, present perfect na past perfect itd.
