1.You work long hours and you can’t spend much time with your family.
- I wish I didn't work long hours. I can't spend much time with my family.
- If I didn't work long hours, I would spend much time with my family.
2. You can’t drive a car so you can’t get around easily.
- I wish I could drive a car so I could get around easily.
- If I could drive a car, I could get around easily.
3. You want to play tennis but you don't have your racquet.
- I wish I had my racquet. I want to play tennis.
- If I had my racquet, I would play tennis.
4. You want to go swimming but the weather isn't warm enough.
- I wish the weather was warm enough to go swimming.
- If the weather was warm enough, I would go swimming.
5. You want to climb the mountain but you are afraid of heights.
- I wish I weren't afraid of heights. I want to climb the mountain.
- If I weren't afraid of heights, I would climb the mountain.
W obu konstrukcjach częściej stosuje się 'were' zamiast 'was', np. 'I wish I were younger' lub 'If I were you, I would choose this one.'
Second Conditional - konstrukcja:
- if + podmiot + Past Simple, podmiot + would + bezokolicznik
